Magdalene and Rachel, unfortunately, the project was a few years ago and I have since left the Santa Cruz area for Austin, TX.

Harry, I'll have to ask David Terrazas how he came upon the reipes and if the project continues.

My grandfather (and later, my uncle and still later, my cousins)owned Maddock's Bakery - starting around 1954 or so.
Before that, he was a part owner of Cassou's Bakery (bread) in the East Bay, and both my father and uncle worked there. And before that, my grandfather was the head baker at Oroweat.

He was a master baker. In addition to his breads, you should try to make his danish pastry - it was the best.

From where did David Terrazas get these formulas/recipes? (Is he a relative I've never met?)

Hi- My family owned Maddocks for many years, and we'd love to see the cookbook once you're done with it. We actually recognized some of the handwriting on the recipe cards in the pic as being our moms.

I struggle with the same issues…….. and I am sad to say that I have been reduced to doing the majority of my shopping at TJ’s for convenience sake. But, after one too many cans of soup, and frozen veggie burgers I devised a plan! Sunday evenings are my “cooking time”. I prepare several dishes, or parts of dishes, in one night. I have become the queen of left overs! If I want pasta later in the week I will make the sauce a head of time so that all I have to do is boil the pasta later in the week. I also make soups or baked dishes that taste even more delicious after sitting a while and are easy to pack for lunch

This paragraph seems a little confusing to me. One sentence, the staff seems lost. The very next sentence, you had such a wonderful experience. I suppose overall you had a good visit, just making a critical observation about the writing style...made me feel like i was watching a tennis match. I'm sure if you went back to the store, they'd refund your money. Accidents happen when places are just starting out. Thanks. I enjoyed your recipes, etc.

Thank you for the link and the welcome you left on my blog. I really appreciate you taking the time!
I have to say I completely agree with the Foodie+Thrifty=Match concept...it seems like I nearly always find myself disappointed if I have to grab a quick sandwich somewhere for lunch. I munch on it rather regretfully, usually, thinking about how a simple tweak or two could have made it so much better. I much prefer to make exactly what I want at home.
